Medieval Warfare

Posted by boloneyman - September 3rd, 2009

You know in Role Models when they fight with foam swords? Well I do that. I did it way before the movie cam out.

To get things straight though, I do not dress up in medieval outfits or roleplay. It is a purely recreational activity. There aren't any wizards, spells, or reenactments. Just a bunch of people going at it with foam weaponry. We've made the game as normal as possible. We meet a couple times a month for a few hours and play different games like Big Team Battle, Capture the Flag, or Bear Pit.

There are groups that do LARP (Live Action Role Play) but we are mostly unrelated. We went to one of their events last year, and after wards some of them came to a few of ours. Eventually we realized that we couldn't really mesh the groups so we stopped interacting with them in autumn of 2008.

We use swords that we created ourselves out of PVC and foam, but we also order weapons from a website called edhellen. The weapons they make are much stronger and last longer. They also have a wide variety of weapons.

If you have any questions about it, comment and I'll be happy to answer them. Check out our youtube page for some of our videos that were made by a fantastic film maker. Better yet check out our Facebook group for the complete collection videos. Watch Battle the 26th Part 2, it is the best one I think.

Bu-but it can't be medieval without knights and horses!

The only thing that comes to mind is ROLE MODELS.

We did it first. :P
